So my birthday and Halloween have come and gone! I'm now 25... a whole 1/4 of a century, old enough to get some priviliges @ Budget Rent-a-Car (so I tell myself to feel better about my "oldness")...
I spent the evening of the 29th (my b-day) with my friend Amanda at a Halloween party hosted by the Portuguese associations of UofT, YorkU, RyersonU and George Brown College.
Getting ready at short notice for this costume party was the tough part... so creativity had to kick in. Since Amanda was going as a little devil, I thought it would be fitting to go as an "Angel gone bad" ;-)
Earlier in the week, I did some searching for costume items at WalMart. After spending 20 minutes digging through the mountains of stuff people stripped the walls of and left on the floor, I had found nothing.. no halo to give a "bad" look to... no face paint... nothing. Luckily, later, I did find some face paint... but I still had a halo to make.
I arrived home, gave a MacGyver stare at my apartment when finally something popped out! The ring around one of my stove plates. I dismounted it, polished it on my shirt and voilá! A Halo! I added a wire shirt hanger to build a stand for my head and after some tweaking, it was ready.
On my birthday, a colegue at work suggested I try MAC Cosmetics for my makeup instead of playing "pretend to be a makeup artist for a day". Allyson Gable from MAC @ The Bay, Yorkdale agreed to do my makeup. She started off by killing all my uneducated cosmetic ideas... I'm glad she did, I would end up going as a mime! Despite having to endure passers by staring at me, the guy sitting in a MAC chair getting his makeup done.... the result was awesome! Thanks Allyson! :-)
Now to the night of the party.... Amanda came to pick me up... as I approached the car, I could notice her laughing in the car... ya... I'm walking down the street with more makeup than her and a wheel rim on my head (actually it was a stove ring Amanda!) and a pair of hand cuffs hanging off my arm.... I would of laughed too... lol
Why don't you see for yourself? I took some pictures before leaving my apartment...
.. scray stuff huh? Well, we arrived at the party, Amanda looked ... how can I put this... hummm.. DEVILISH! ;-) You looked great Amanda, with your cute little pokey fork. :-)
Here's a pic of us entering Butt'r Lounge on College + Bathurst...
... and us on the dance floor..
Thanks for the night Amanda :-)
... well, usually, this would mean the end of my birthday... but tonight, the 30th while I was getting ready to go to bed, I got a text message from my friend Ana who was waiting with Sandra at The Drake Hotel. I couldn't say no, I wanted to see them again :-) It's been a while since Toronto Winter Hybernation kicked in...
I was glad I went, I had a good time and it was great seeing you girls again. :-)
Well, that's all for now.... more to come soon ;-) thanks for reading!
