Last year I thought I would take a challenge and do something that your average person can't do. I learned to Juggle.

How useful can that be right?

It came in handy for Halloween 2003 when I played the part of a Psycho Clown

Beyond that, is it really worth the work? Well.. I just assume that if people can do it, I will do it too. The satisfaction of doing something you thought only other people can do is rewarding enough.

Not too long before, I learned how to Moonwalk...lol. Soon after, I learned how to make a business card disappear right in front of your eyes!

Now, what other skill can I develop that isn't common among your average Joe?

I've decided that I'm going to do some research into performing a back flip! You got it... within a year, I want to be able to do a backward summersault. There are two main types of back flips actually:

  • Backward Handspring

  • Backward Summersault

  • I think I should have my sights on the backward handspring since there is alot less danger to breaking my neck or hurting myself any other way.

After doing some research, I found this video:

It's halarious! Ha! But... humm.. that's exactly what I'm going to attempt. Not a very good idea huh? If I'm going to be doing backflips, I better get professional help.

I could look for a gymnastics school in Toronto and spend a month or so there until I reach my goal, but what would I do after I'm a proficient "backflipper"?

This goes in the same path of something I've been meaning to do for quite some time: Martial Arts.

No, you won't see a Ninja Pedro any time soon... I'm planning to consolidate 3 objectives of mine into one new hobby: Capoeira.

Capoeira is a dance (since there is no contact) developed by Brazilian slaves centuries ago because their masters wouldn't allow fight training. This way, they could keep in shape and develop dangerous offensive skills without their masters knowing.

I've been looking for ways to get involved in the Brazilian community in Toronto and this seems to be the perfect way to meet some Brazilians here.

Another objective of mine is to keep in shape with a hobby that I would enjoy and capoeira fills that requirement quite well.

Finally, learning to back flip will come with time in developing my Capoeira skills.

I'm off to searching for a school. Wish me luck!
